You cross the Páramo de Castrojeriz - one of the most exposed sections of the meseta - before dropping toward the Río Pisuerga. Plan for about 6 hours 20 minutes; weather can turn quickly up on the plain.

Frómista has a famous Romanesque church and a canal-side setting that feels like a green oasis after the open meseta. Popular with cyclists and walkers alike.
