Stage 25

The classic crossing of the Cruz de Ferro and the descent toward El Bierzo - plan for about 8 hours, the longest standard stage on the Francés. Iron cross, stone cairns, and exposed ridge walking dominate the morning.

Ponferrada sits in the Bierzo valley with a Templar castle and full city services. Arrive tired but satisfied; this day defines the mountain section for many walkers.
