You leave Burgos onto the meseta proper - flat, exposed, and relentless in hot weather. Expect about 5 hours 15 minutes on straight tracks through wheat fields with few trees for shade.

Hornillos del Camino is a single-street village that exists largely for pilgrims. Simple food, basic beds, and an early start recommended for the next day's heat.
